I challenge you to find a holly tree in the New Forest that doesn't bare marks from ponies teeth.
These marks go only as high as the ponies can reach and some of them are ancient. With the New Forest pony never roaming far from its haunt and living within their family herds, I like to think that ponies sharpen their teeth within the scars left by their grandparents gnawing.
