From self to everything
As this arrives in your inbox, I am hosting a distance healing workshop and sharing the limitless possibilities.

If I had to reduce everything I've experienced into one lesson, it would probably be this:
Distance healing isn't about concentrating harder. It's not about staring energetically at another person. It's not about searching their body for problems. And it's not about constantly looking for signs that you've done something correctly.
It's about becoming quiet enough to notice.
I begin with myself.
My breath.
My body.
My sensations.
My emotional state.
My intention.
And then I allow the other person or animal to exist within my awareness - without trying to interfere with their experience.
And this is why I keep coming back to the idea that:
Let me give you an analogy. Imagine you're sitting in a room carrying out a task. Perhaps you're doing your accounts. Maybe taking a phone call. Or carrying out housework, and in the corner of the room, the television is on.You know it's there. You can hear it.You might even notice parts of the programme. But your attention isn't on the television.
Your attention is on the task you're doing. That is how I want you to think about distance healing.
The person you're offering support to is the "television on in the room".
You know they're there. You may sense them. You may notice thoughts, images, emotions or sensations arising. But you don't put all of your attention into them.
The task you are carrying out in the room is you.
Your breath.
Your body.
Your grounding.
Your heart.
Your awareness.
Your state of consciousness.

The other person remains within your awareness, but your primary focus stays with yourself. And this is incredibly important, because the moment we become overly focused on another person, we can start moving away from observation and into action. We start trying to make something happen. We start looking for results. We become emotionally involved in their experience. We begin imagining what they should be feeling, and suddenly, we're no longer simply offering support. We're becoming entangled. So instead, I want you to practise this idea:
"I know you're there, but I don't need to do anything with you."
And that is where compassion becomes so important ๐
Enjoy this short meditation to try distance healing for yourself. No training needed - just compassion and self-awareness.
