Managed to get out before the rain this morning. The light may be grey and drab, but there are still some beautiful colours and textures to be found.
All the 'singers' were out keeping me company. Robin's, blackbirds and thrush along with the sound of trickling water from the woodland stream. The sky was moody and thick with bubbling clouds of white, greys and blacks which contrasted against the green, upright conifers that margined my path.
Squirrels noisily scampered up the thick bark of the trees and a small herd of red deer could be made out in the shadows of the dense wood. The atmosphere seemed heavy and still in the mild, gloomy weather and the pine trees were starting to release their unmistakable sweet aroma on my stroll back to the car, a sure sign rain is imminent!
