Every footstep holds a memory

Kingley Vale is very dear to my heart. It is the place that gave me a sense of freedom and peace through my teenage years.
Just recently, I have felt the pull to go back and visit, so I did just that.
Although it now has tidy paths and information boards, and you can no longer ride amongst the ancient yew trees as I did 30 years ago. The trees still hold the sense of freedom and peace. Along my walk, I saw two roe deer chasing and creating roe rings. I had a close encounter with a greater whitethroat as it serenaded me from the hedgerow. Hares dashed along woodland paths, red kites circled the skies, and a tawny owl welcomed me home - back into the arms of the yew as it sat on a bough and watched my return.
