SUNSHINE!!!!

The cold, harsh, icy wind stung when it hit my face, but nothing was going to waiver my improved mood and gratitude for a dry walk in the winter sun.

Still not many braving the weather meaning we had the forest to ourselves with just the sound of a drumming greater spotted woodpecker, a nuthatch who was desperate to get someone's attention and a flock of crossbills chattering high in the conifers. Only being disturbed but the wind whipping through the trees and biting at my fingers. It was cold enough for the southern wood ants who ventured out in the mild weather at the weekend from their nest to reseal their roof and lie dormant. Heres hoping for some drier weather soon, so I can roam further into the forest again!! In the meantime I enjoyed a walk in the brief break from the rain.
