What is Nature Therapy, with New Forest Nature and Nurture?

I have worked with nature all my life, even before I had a full awareness of what I was doing. These days I am very much aware that Mother Nature is my partner, support and best friend in my work, play and times of emotional support. She reminds me that not everything in life needs structure and things can bloom and evolve more beautifully with flow. this is the guidance I take from Mother Nature when I offer Nature Therapy.

Nature Therapy is more profound on a 1-1 basis, it allows the participant to really dive into nature and retrieve from it exactly what they need, through allowing themself to be vulnerable with some gentle nudges from me to allow them to experience that they are nature by making connections to their emotions with what is happening in the trees, the plants, the animals and the seasons.

People often inquire if what I provide is Forest Bathing. The short answer is no, although there are similar elements. We might take time to sit under a tree, dip our feet in the water, or lie on the grass and enjoy the scent of flowers, but only if the participant feels inclined to do so. My role is not to impose structure on your time in nature; rather, I, along with Mother Nature, am there to offer a non-judgmental space, reflecting back your questions, fears, and anxieties. It's not about thinking how certain aspects of your life affect you, but about identifying where in your body you feel these emotions and how they make you feel. This is crucial for unlocking long-held burdens and breaking repetitive patterns. Until you start to feel these emotions physically, you'll never break the cycle. You might be free of it temporarily, but something can trigger you, bringing you back into the cycle once again.

You might wonder, what does nature have to do with this work? When we are immersed in nature and with someone we trust, our bodies begin to align with the natural rhythms around us. This makes it easier to escape the overactive mind and tune into our bodily sensations, simply because nature is something we innately understand. It's like 'coming home' because we are part of nature. As mammals, the swaying trees, the birds' calls, the grazing animals, the flowing water, and the shining sun are all part of us, and we are part of them. Entering this neutral state of experiencing life and feeling emotions in our bodies allows us to tap into our animal instincts and intuition. When this occurs, you start finding your own answers to your questions quickly and profoundly, while I become an observer, responsible for time and destination, offering gentle nudges on how to discover those answers within your own knowledge. In this very moment, nature mirrors your emotions through its ebb and flow of releasing, reflecting, preparing, growing, and flourishing. This reflection is not limited to trees and animals, but I am there to remind you to also look to the seas, stars, planets, moon, and seasons.

Though my years of experience within this work, it doesn't matter about the path in life you have taken, the trauma, the anxiety, the condition or where it came from. I recognise the common factor in every client, and it is the simple fact that everybody is searching for the space to feel seen, heard and safe. The moment you start to connect to the sensations in your body and learn how to read them, you start to feel safety within you and that is the moment the emotions, fears and conditions fall away. As your guide in nature therapy, I take my lesson also from nature to walk with you, hear you, see you, have no judgement and help you light up those sensations in your body.
