They can try and tame us...

Today I took a short wander in the woods. Busy with work, I didn’t really have time for a walk, but the sun broke through the rain clouds and my body craved the natural world.
I nipped up the road to walk amongst the straight trees and easy paths of this well-managed, well-trodden tourist spot. Yet today, as I stepped away from the screen and into my “wild,” the woodland did the same. We shared our nature without disturbance from other humans or unnatural sounds. The wind whipped through the canopies of tall trees and water gushed through the ditches. I braced against the unruly gusts and embraced the shake-up of energy from this woodland as it constantly tries to break free from the conditioning of straight trees and easy paths.
Catkins jangled on branches and fir cones were thrown down as the woodland defied uniformity.
Hair tousled and skin blushed in the eruption of chaotic wind. I walked with it, knowing the woodland had embraced me, unafraid of her playful missiles. She blew me off the path, deeper into the woods, where she reveals the elementals in fallen trees to those who dare to trust the wilds. Huge redwoods stand with such presence — soft to the touch and gentle in nature — hidden in this enchanted woodland.
Thank you, Bolderwood, for sharing your wild essence with me and shifting my energy by reminding me of my own. You gave me the deep breath of reality I needed to step back into a productive afternoon.
