Something shifted

Whilst working from home this morning I could hear the whisper from the woods from across the road calling me in.

I heard you, but there's so much to do be done! By the time I reached my third client this afternoon, I found myself repeating for the third time,

"it's really important to take some quiet time for yourself."

The woodland was no longer whispering; it was shouting! I adapted to nature's change and got ready to venture into the woods. I sensed the transformation within myself as well. Today, I opted for jeans instead of lightweight trousers and chose walking boots over barefoot shoes.

I crossed the road, beyond the bustling pub and the chaos of road rage, and entered the woods where the noise and anger faded away. The forest was eager to show me the impact of the previous night's rain. It had been anticipated for a while, and the forest was rejoicing with light and colours and adornments of fungi and mosses.

And the trees boasted their autumnal bounty.

She was right, as she often is with her gentle suggestions—I needed to be with her. That afternoon was grounding as I sat among her trees. I felt joy watching the deer, inspiration from the birds, and warmth in my heart as I quietly tiptoed past the ponies.

Sunlight streamed through the trees, and silver birch have inched their way out of the woodland, ready to shine once more among the darker months.

There's so much to observe in the rejuvenated landscape of lush green from the rain, alongside the yellowing leaves and bronzing bracken. The season is on the brink of change, with each tree and turned leaf urging me to slow my pace. And slow down I did! I've walked this woodland countless times, yet today it revealed more than ever before. The trees glimmered as I walked by, standing tall, ancient, and wise.

The bracken displayed vibrant colours as it shrank, the wildlife gorged on the abundance, and the blue skies blew through fluffy rain clouds. The bramble was sweet to the taste, and my whole experience was joyous!

What a gift in stillness, as inspiration and answers came to mind after removing the noise, and if this wasn't enough, she offered me two more King's Mark etchings I had never noticed and a hag-stone for my pocket.

This is the time of year I want to be amongst her, to witness the daily shifts as the leaves gradually change, wildlife celebrates the abundance and start to shift habitats, tourists begin to disperse and the atmospheric woodland doesn't rush her beauty or transformation. She just lets it unfold as it should, when it should in perfect harmony with her knowingly cyclical connection to all
